Winter Pep Rally 2022

The renowned Winter Pep Rally is back! Despite the modifications made to this year’s indoor pep rally, it is nevertheless an extremely exciting time here at SA. Throughout the week, students of Saint Anthony’s High School participate in “Americana Day,” “Jersey Day,” “Color Wars,” and “Black and Gold Day” to demonstrate their school spirit. Each day showcases a new variety of creativity amongst our students with headbands, beads, and accessories that all lead up to our final day: Pep Rally and Hawaiian Day during the basketball game.

Each year at Winter Pep Rally, varsity teams and their captains introduce themselves and their respective teams as the school watches on congratulating their accomplishments in their respective sports. Pep Rally cheers are sparked on by performances from the varsity cheer team, step team, rock band, and varsity kickline. The crowd favorite, Step Team always gets the whole crowd cheering along with the Friar Rock Band. Seniors Matthew Meberg, Peter Whitcomb, and Gabrielle Ramos have been entertaining the student body for the past four years and with their final performance this year they will once again create an atmosphere that feels like a rock concert. Typically joined by Mr. Engel and the symphonic band, students will enjoy familiar tunes as teams are presented.

With support from the student council, the rally scene truly comes to life; teams break through paper veils prepared by the student council and decorated by the members of the varsity sports, showing how much effort and dedication goes into the Pep Rally celebration. Each captain is blessed to be introduced by Student Council president Aidan D’Alonzo, and Class president Patrick Quilty. In addition to the student council, Homecoming King and Queen, Rhett Gallagher and Trinity Williams both have front row access to all the fun. There is even expected to be a surprise performance by the Senior boys.

With the Pep Rally falling on one of basketball’s biggest nights: Hawaiian Night, special guests of honor, the Men’s Basketball team, will close the team introductions and encourage fans to come back to Friday Night Hoops at 6 O’Clock to support the Friars as they face off against their number 1 rival, Chaminade. It is very on-brand for the Friars to schedule rival Chaminade as their opponent for the big night and with the high energy of the crowd it is bound to be a very exciting and memorable game. Don’t miss out on all the fun! Catch the Friars take on rival Chaminade on the annual Hawaiian Night at 6 O’Clock in the St. Anthony’s Gymnasium.
