National Honor Society (NHS)

The National Honor Society recognizes St. Anthony’s students who excel in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
Please note: Academic eligibility is the first step, but it does not guarantee admission. The Faculty Committee evaluates each candidate on all four pillars.
Who Can Apply?
You are eligible to apply if you meet the following criteria:
Grade Level: You are a sophomore, junior, or senior.
Enrollment: You have attended St. Anthony’s for at least one semester.
Scholarship: You have a weighted cumulative average of 89.50% or higher.
The Admission Process
Academic Posting: After the second marking period, the school posts the names of academically eligible students.
Mandatory Meeting: Eligible students must attend a mandatory meeting (date listed on the school calendar) to receive the application packet and review the requirements.
Faculty Review: The Faculty Committee reviews all submitted applications and votes on candidates.
Acceptance: The school posts the names of new members, followed by an Induction Ceremony.
The Four Pillars of Selection
1. Scholarship
You must maintain a weighted cumulative average of 89.50% or higher across all high school grades.
2. Leadership
Leadership is about action, not just a title. We look for students who:
Take initiative in the classroom, school activities, and the community.
Guide and inspire peers with a positive attitude.
Successfully and reliably handle responsibility.
3. Service
Service means volunteering your time to help others without receiving payment or class credit.
Requirement: You must complete at least 10 hours of service between September and February of the current school year.
Qualities: You volunteer cheerfully, work well with others, and take on responsibilities without complaint.
4. Character
Candidates must have an excellent (100%) character rating. We look for students who:
Show honesty, reliability, and respect for others.
Follow school rules, show up on time, and uphold academic integrity (no cheating).
Accept feedback and actively help build a positive school community.
Expectations for Active Members
To remain in good standing, inducted NHS members must:
Maintain a cumulative average of 89.50% or higher.
Maintain an excellent character rating.
Complete 5 hours of service each month for the school or community.
Review & Probation: The moderator reviews members’ standing throughout the year. If a member fails to meet these requirements, they will be placed on probation. If they do not correct the issue, the moderator will contact their parents, and the student may be removed from the Honor Society.
