Friar Faithful’s 6th Annual Challenger Sports Camp

St. Anthony’s High School kicked off its 6th Annual Challenger Sports Camp Wednesday afternoon. Students in the Friar Faithful welcomed 63 special needs athletes to come participate in basketball, soccer, lacrosse, softball, and football. The athletes and buddies also worked in some calisthenics and a few laps around the track. This program was brought to St. Anthony’s back in the summer of 2013 by Challenger Sports Directors Mr. Ray Samson and Mr. Emmitt Christie (St. Anthony’s Class of ’89) as well as a regular Challenger volunteer, Stephen DeSimone (Class of 2015). For the past five years, Challenger athletes have come to work out with members of the Friar Faithful on Wednesday afternoons in the summer. The program will continue this year on Wednesdays from July 11th to August 1st. Any families with children with special needs are welcome to register at www.challengersports.org. Special thanks to all the members of Friar Faithful who help bring the joy of sports to the Challenger athletes.
