Thanksgiving Food Drive 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The week before Thanksgiving is the time when we ask each one of our students to bring in a BAG of food for our less fortunate brothers and sisters right here on Long Island. It is very heartwarming to see a number of our students getting off the bus in the morning with a bag of food, and yet it is so disappointing when some seniors who are “blessed” to be able to drive to school don’t bring anything at all in for those in need.
Since the need this year is as great as ever, can I please ask you to do what you can to encourage your sons and daughters to help those in need. As a Catholic, Franciscan school we certainly need to heed the words of Our Lord who said that we will be judged on how we have treated the poor in our midst.
Items might include: cereal, pasta, rice, canned hams, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, canned fruits and vegetables, yams, soups and “no bake” desserts.
May I ask that you NOT send in anything in a GLASS jar.
The food will be collected during the week before Thanksgiving and will be delivered by our seniors on that Friday before Thanksgiving, the 19th. All food should be brought to school by then — and put in the Campus Ministry Office on the second floor when they get to school in the morning.
Please accept my deepest appreciation for your help and encouragement in this important endeavor. Know that you and your family will be in the heart of my prayers during this Season of Giving Thanks!
Sincerely yours,
Bro. Vincent Adams, O.S.F.
