Thursday, March 19 Update: FEAST OF SAINT JOSEPH.

 

Dear Saint Anthony’s Family,

 

AS I HAVE MENTIONED TO ALL OF YOU IN EARLIER UPDATES, THE GOVERNOR HAS ORDERED ALL SCHOOLS CLOSED UNTIL APRIL 1, SO OUR VIRTUAL LEARNING WILL EXTEND TO APRIL 1. WITH THIS IN MIND, IT IS OUR SINCERE HOPE TO OPEN SCHOOL ON APRIL 2.

 

Virtual Learning has Started; I believe it is going well, I have heard so many great comments from students, parents and teachers about what is happening with the online learning program. I continue to ask for your patience, as this is new territory for all of us. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

 

This morning the Administration along with members from Security, Technology and the Maintenance Departments met to discuss all that is going on here at school. I want to update you on some important dates.

 

OUR CAMPUS IS CLOSED: THUS, NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO USE THE FIELDS, CHAPEL, WEIGHT ROOM OR ANY OTHER FACILITY ON THE CAMPUS. IT IS OUR HOPE TO LIFT THIS REQUIREMENT ONCE WE HEAR FROM GOVERNMENT OFFICALS.

 

ACADEMIC EVENTS:

VIRTUAL SCHOOL/ONLINE LEARNING: March 17- April 2

COLLEGE FAIR: Cancelled

L.I. SCIENCE CONGRESS: Cancelled

DAC TEST PREP SPRING SESSION: Cancelled, Questions contact Miss Creighton

CATECHETICS MASS/CEREMONY: Postponed

ALUMNI PRE-THEATRE GATHERING: POSTPONED TO MAY 15

DEVELOPMENT GOLF OUTING: POSTPONED TO AUGUST 10

 

I have started a new format for communicating with all of you, in addition to the Upcoming Friarside Chats, I have begun “MINUTE WITH THE MONK”, these are short clips to keep you informed on what we are doing here on a daily basis.

 

The Campus Ministry department is setting up a Webpage https://www.stanthonyshs.org/campus-ministry-resources/ offering many opportunities for prayer; please feel free to contact Brother Vincent, Campus Minister, at extension 240 for prayer intentions and comments. In addition, Mr. Clauberg and Mrs. Domanico are seeking many ways to connect with our students in prayer opportunities. Please know that the Brothers are keeping you in prayer on a daily basis.

 

Mr. Washington, Miss O’Neill, Mr. Vasiliades along with the department chairpersons have done great work keeping our academics on track. I am so grateful to the entire faculty who have put in hours of hard work to get all of this accomplished. If you are having difficulty with classwork, I ask that you email the teachers they will do their best to assist you.

 

Mr. R. Cordina, Mr. Davino, Mr. Kwasnik, Mr. Mescallado are working on many ways to connect via Social Media. Miss Creighton is keeping our Alumni informed and Dr. Buehler spends much time getting all of my communications out to you in a timely manner

 

Finally, I remind you to make time for prayer during the day, make time for recreation during the day and most of all take care of yourself and be safe.

 

Know that each day all of us are praying for you. Brother Gabriel, the Superior General of the Franciscan Brothers wanted me to assure you that you are in the prayers of all of the Brothers in our Congregation; I can also say that every teacher and staff member is praying for you.

 

We are Friar Strong, so we will get through this. May Saint Joseph whose feast day we celebrate give us the wisdom and strength to carry on, May Saint Anthony our Patron be a source of guidance for all of us.

 

Let us continue to Pray for One Another.
