Distributive Club of America (DECA) Inc. is a not-for-profit student organization that operates clubs worldwide with the purpose of helping students improve in their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills within the professional field. This organization prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges across the United States and overseas. DECA enhances preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate with classroom instruction and apply learning in the context of business. The student members of this organization experience the opportunity of becoming better academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, and experienced leaders.
DECA has impacted the lives of many students, educators, school administrators, and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. The student members benefit from activities in DECA’s Comprehensive Learning Program. In addition to an official membership pin, members are afforded resources like access to conferences designed to prepare them for college, as well as the pursuit of different career paths. This organization also grants over $300,000 in scholarships a year for members who plan to attend college. DECA’s core principles are deeply rooted in the values of Saint Anthony’s High School: Truth, Respect, Opportunity, Leadership and Service.
