Kolbe Society

Saint Maximilian Kolbe, O.F.M Conv., the Franciscan after whom the Society is named.

The Peer-Ministry Retreat Program, is an all-day on-campus retreat experience for the seventeen Sophomore Theology classes, planned, organized, and implemented by the Kolbe Council Seniors, working in collaboration with their peers in the Honors Catechetics classes.

This year’s retreat theme “Be Christ’s Light” is reflected in the opening Eucharistic Liturgy, in the moments of reflection, meditation, in the well-planned activities, including: creative skits, slide and film clips, and, especially in the witness talks presented by the Seniors. Moderated by Sister Ann Julie Peters and assisted by Mrs. Saporita, opportunity is given for group dialouge to take place which creates a welcoming and affirming atmosphere.

The day concludes with a dramatization of the Peace Prayer of Saint Francis and the distribution of lapel pins – a reminder that each of us is called daily to “Be Christ’s Light” on our journey in life.
