Helping To Save A Life

On Wednesday, December 19, Hamanda Mirline Maignan underwent life-saving heart surgery at St. Francis Hospital. The money to bring her here from her native country of Haiti was raised, in part, by the students of St. Anthony’s High School. The money was raised from the school’s dress down day and was donated to the Gift of Life Inc. Through the efforts and dedication of the Vizza Foundation and most notably Dr. Sean Levchuk, the Chairman of Pediatric Cardiology at St. Francis and the surgeon who performed the operation, Hamanda’s life was forever changed.

As part of the new collaboration between St. Anthony’s High School and St. Francis Hospital, 5 of our aspiring medical students had the privilege of observing the surgery in the operating room. Friars Brianna Passaro, Kayla Markey, Danielle Diem, Cameron Levchuck, and Tom Boyle were all present for the surgery.
