The Alvernian Chapter of the National Honor Society is composed of Juniors and Seniors at Saint Anthony’s High School. Sophomores may apply for membership in the Spring Semester and are inducted into the society in early May. St. Francis of Assisi received the Stigmata (wounds of Jesus Christ) on Mt. L’Avernia, allowing him to understand fully the love that Jesus has for each of us when He suffered and died on the Cross. This a beautiful example to the members of the Alvernian Chapter in following the Gospel message by using their God-given talents and abilities to give glory and praise to God. The members commit themselves to demonstrating excellent character, leadership and service both inside and outside of school. In addition, students must have a minimum cumulative average of 89.50% to apply and, as a member, must maintain that average. As part of their active membership, students assist in service to Saint Anthony’s at the many events that characterize the daily life of our high school. Applicants must complete a minimum of ten hours of service during the months prior to the application process; members must compete a minimum of fifty hours of service as Junior and fifty hours of service as a Senior.
Brother Robert Gabriel, O.S.F. is the Moderator of the Alvernian Chapter of the National Honor Society.
