✞Remembering a Legend, Rest in Peace Mr. Edward Vilbig✞

On Friday, September 14, St. Anthony’s lost Mr. Edward Vilbig, a legendary member of our faculty whose career spanned five decades.

Over the past 50 years, St. Anthony’s High School has changed in many ways. One thing that remained constant was the presence of Mr. Edward Vilbig, a faculty member who joined the St. Anthony’s community in 1966 after bravely serving as a United States Marine. “Biggs” as he was affectionately known, was a Science teacher who taught Biology, Chemistry, Marine Biology and he was the creator of Chemistry in the Community. Later in his career, he became a permanent substitute teacher, the moderator of detention, the director of the tutoring center, and most recently, assistant to Brother Joshua, OSF. Ed was the husband of Connie and father of Friar Alumni Edward, Frank and the late George. Mr. Vilbig was an integral part of our school identity, culture, and spirit. He will be dearly missed.
