When Saint Anthony's High School opened its doors in 1933, it brought to LongIsland an 800-year-old Franciscan tradition of excellence in education. Founded on the Franciscan principle, "Capture the heart and the mind will follow," this Roman Catholic college preparatory school encourages young men and women to nurture their moral, intellectual, aesthetic and physical faculties in an atmosphere of faith, respect and encouragement.

The basic curriculum at Saint Anthony's includes required courses in:

  • Theology
  • English
  • Social Studies
  • Physical Education (4 years)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • French or Spanish (3 years)
  • Health
  • Art, Music or Drama (1 year)

Honors and Advanced Placement courses are offered to students who qualify, with electives in all disciplines. Even before New York State required it, all students were called upon to receive a Regents diploma.

With a passing grade of 75%, all students are expected to pursue a high standard of excellence. Indeed, an average of 80% is required to obtain a letter of recommendation to any college. It is a source of great pride at Saint Anthony's that almost every student moves on to a college or university, many of them receiving National Merit Letters of Commendation and millions of dollars worth of college and university scholarships.

Dozens of extracurricular activities enable students to pursue widely varied interests and talents, and to involve themselves in community service.

Our Instrumental and Choral Programs have performed in the great Cathedrals and Basilicas of Europe and the United States.

Across the years, hundreds of trophies have attested to the excellence of Saint Anthony's athletic program. Young men and women find that team spirit and the will to succeed intensify the family spirit that marks the school as a natural outgrowth of the Franciscan ideal, "Put knowledge at the service of love." (Saint Bonaventure) Registration requires a certificate of immunization and a physical.

When entering as a Freshman (after taking the Catholic High School Entrance Exam) or as a transfer student (telephone the school for an application), admission is based on two criteria:

  • The demonstrated ability to succeed in a college preparatory school
  • The student's expressed desire to attend "The School with a Difference."

Saint Anthony's High School is chartered by the State of New York and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
